Chinua Achebe's OP-ED today in the New York Times.

Everybody needs one of these

Thank Muhammed Bah Abba, Nigeria, for reviving this old technology to solving the problem of cold storage without electricity. This can work anywhere you can collect clay pots, a little dirt and some water. His award-winning pot-in-pot system uses materials you can make or hopefully find in your local area. Store your food harvest. Start a business making these. If you live in a throw-away culture like the US, this is a great backyard alternative to styrofoam coolers.

Home Grown!

Well here goes...my first post. The basic idea for this blog is to cut through all the yammering and ch, ch, ch out there on how to build a brighter black future by connecting to practical ways we are doing it for ourselves already. So I'll start close to home. Here is a community of black farmers you need to know. They sell their produce in and around Chicago.
